Sirdar Posted June 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We will arrive in Quebec City and stay on the ship (HAL Veendam) overnight from Friday to Saturday. Our flight home does not depart until late afternoon on Saturday and we will have several hours between disembarkation and the flight home. This is our first Canada cruise and we are unfamiliar with Quebec. Questions: How far is the airport from the cruise terminal? What would be the fare for a taxi to the airport? Any idea of what do before the flight other than sitting around the airport? What to do with luggage while awaiting the flight? Any help is appreciated. Rare martincath Posted June 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2015 It's about a 20km drive, 30mins or so (very traffic dependent) and a cab will therefore vary considerably in price (no fixed rate cabs to the airport, only from). Assume $50, hope for $40, and be pleasantly surprised at anything less unless you're going really late. Luggage can be left at the port until 5pm for $4 per bag. What to do? Well, since you're going to have had a whole day already I'd say do all the stuff you didn't have time for yesterday;-) If you can't find stuff to do in one of the most historic cities on the continent you're obviously just not trying... walk around Upper and Lower areas of the 'Old Town', get the ferry over to Levis & back for the best photos (while you're in QC, you can't actually appreciate quite how scenic it is), visit Montmorency Falls, the Citadel/Fields of Abraham, as many churches as you can shake a stick at (but prioritise Notre-Dame), Museum of Civilization (and several other good museums), enjoy local brews and food - some idea of the kind of things that you & your party like to do will help cut back on the wealth of possiblities. Or just stay on for an extra week and do everything!
Rare mskaufman Posted June 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Luggage can be checked at the port. When you arrive to retrieve it people will be arriving to depart on the next cruise so getting a cab will be easy. During the day you can take the HOHO bus, that starts in the upper town near the Funicular exit. Alternatively, you can go to Montmorency Falls.
