jasm8449 Posted June 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2015 I understand there are no car rentals at the airport, only in the town of Ashdod, several kilometers from port. Is it difficult to get a taxi from the port entrance to Ashdod? I expect taxis would be waiting for more lucrative fares such as to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. We have driven in Israel before....but not from Ashdod.

We have driven in Israel before....but not from Ashdod. Taxi drivers in Israel cannot refuse a passenger. There will be an official taxi station in the port with a dispatch guy, you go to him and he assign you a taxi, no matter where you need to go. Your problem is to get back to the port and the fact that the rental office (assuming it is not Friday or Saturday) are closed usually at 17:00. Take the phone of the driver that takes you in the morning and call him and he can take you back into the port. Taxi from the port to the city should not cost more than 25$USD.
