Hurricanes In Hawai'i

My UK friend arrived in Oahu yesterday morning & in Waikiki hotel on the beach which are closed with huge signs on the beach stating dangerous currents & 20' waves. He thought the breeze was great, the rain was very warm with the waves he was ready to try surfing but no one out there.

Then checking Hawai'i at my friends weather nest at Burke Airport, we saw hurricane Jova making a westward move that could graze the Big Island (Kona area) next Friday then Maui. Very strange since Kaua'i is the hurricane center of Hawai'i. So I sent the warning from him to Embassy on Maui to spread between everyone at Kaanapali Beach. Hopefullyit goes North/NorthWest to just give great wave action to N Maui.

The worst hurricane to hit Hawaii was Iniki on September 11, 1992. It clobbered Kauai. They call it the first September 11. It was a category 4.

I don't know where it was in "the season" ; early, middle or end.

Since it was in the middle of Caribbean season, I'm guessing that the season is about the same; June through November.

Regards
