newbiefromvancouver Posted September 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Planning a Pacific Coastal cruise on NCL next May. I'd appreciate it if past cruisers would let me know if seas were rough. Have heard that California to Vancouver can be a bumpy ride. thanks. Don Haynes Posted September 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Storms at sea can occur any where at sea. Then again the seas can be as calm as glass.
Druke I Posted September 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Gross generalizaation of course, but usually bumpier Northbound along the Left Coast than Southbound - due to the Japanese Current, which flows South along the coast. Often very bumpy just outside the Golden Gate, in area known as Potato Patch, where the currents from San Francisco Bay collide with the Japanese Current. Gingee Posted April 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2011 I know this is a old thread but how bumpy is bumpy?
Ms belp Posted April 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2011 When I went on the Spirit in 2009 the ship could not leave port because it was so windy. I bumped around so much I ended up in a bed and a wheelchair because my back went out. Left the ship in a wheelchair. Is that bumpy enough for you? It depends on your age and your health.
