mitzicat Posted August 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2015 There still seems to be a lot of talk about this, it was even on BBC Sussex this morning where it was mentioned that some are taking legal action. We sailed on Balmoral this year on its cruise from Singapore to Southampton (March - May) and were infected with the dreaded bug four days into the cruise. One of us isolated for 3 days and myself for only one day. We received compensation for the all inclusive deal for the number of days we were isolated and a blue gastro booklet with a discount claim form for future cruises. The tours we missed were also refunded. I must say that we were very well looked after, being contacted often by medical centre, hotel manager and our cabin stewardess spoke through the door whenever she passed. Oh, and cabin service for food and refreshment. Just posted this to let others know what we went through, not pleasant but you are not ignored. We are off on another cruise soon on Balmoral, bit apprenhensive re the bug situation, but I am sure all will be well.
Mark_T Posted August 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Just for clarity though you are only referring to previous problems and are not suggesting there is currently a problem? As you may imagine, the title of the thread might cause concern to those due to cruise on Balmoral shortly :)

worldfamoustravellers Posted August 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2015 Yes I am referring to a previous problem, I just wanted to let the community know how we were looked after, which was pretty good. Seems that Fred has got on top of the problem since the Norway cruise at the beginning of July. Fingers crossed that will continue to be the case. wft
callyuk Posted August 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2015 Just posted in another thread that we got off the Balmoral today and there was no Norovirus on board. :)
historyman Posted August 9, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) We were on the Balmoral Norway cruise which terminated a day early in May owing to the virus and again on the cruise which returned yesterday 8 August. I can also confirm that we saw no indication of any problems this time:) Edited August 9, 2015 by historyman

Jakanne1 Posted September 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Just returned from Boudicca and no Norovirus or coughs. I was very impressed with the precautions taken and the daily reminder from the Captain about thorough hand washing and an 'extra splash' of anti viral liquid.
