Venice Pre-Cruise

Ca Doge is a real hotel (although it seems like a B&B) and their desk is staffed 24 hours a day. But one might surmise that the night person does not normally handle check-ins. In your situation we would probably send another follow-up e-mail. If they do not respond you might consider a phone call during the daytime when there is usually somebody at the desk who speaks English.

Hank, thanks for the reassurance! I will do as you suggest, although I dread the phone call to Italy! Emailing is so much easier. :o

DW and moi have spent lots of time in Europe doing our own driving trips. We book all of our own hotels and have grown accustomed to not always getting fast internet responses (we sometimes think nobody checks the e-mail). It drives us nutz but is also part of the challenge :).

Good luck

just to let others know about Ca Doge; I got a nice response that we would be welcomed by the car park personnel until 1 am (we should reach the hotel by midnight with our 22.55 flight from Frankfurt).

The reception itself closes at 9 pm. Weird, I think, but I hope it all turns out well.

The location of the hotel seems to be unbeatable, judging by the googlemaps view, as the people mover entrance is just across street to hotel door. We have a reservation for the night after the cruise, too, and may well stay there, although we have a 7 am flight out, so I am booking a private transport to the airport just for the sake of my husbands mental health. First Atvo buss leaves at 5 am which I personally thing is fine, but my over-worried Dear Husband is willing to pay for the private taxi.

I think this hotel will give us maximum time at Venice in the last evening, and still an easy way out in the morning. It's a pity we only will have one day to explore Venice, but our vacation days are limited. Luckily; with Ca Doge before the cruise, we also have the morning just to have a quick peek!
