Live from Getaway: August 15, 2015

Recommended Posts

Morning,

Aubrey: we did through cruise to ensure a spot on 7:30 ferry. Cost difference between going on your own is negligible and we had plenty of time. It wAs crowded though (at first), so going on your own would be beneficial if you could time it to miss the crowds.

Nola: I don't consider myself a foodie; but we do enjoy UDP on the away ships. Ironically, the biggest reason for me purchasing UDP is the ability to eat outside on the waterfront. Food is a bonus, and I'm sure I'd be happy with regular menu, I've mentioned a lot of food because so many people ding NcL for food and I really think it's more alike than different when comparing with the other main stream lines,

I had low expectations for legally blonde and was delightfully surprised. I enjoyed the show as much as rock of ages for sure. NcL does entertainment slightly better than the other mainstream lines, but you must preplan. The que for standby wrapped nearly to osheehans last night.

We took it pretty easy last night and went to see a movie in spice. This is one area where Princess surpasses NcL. On princess MUTS comes with lounge chairs with special cushioned padding used only for movies. Pillows, blankets, and lounge chair services. Last night all the lounge chairs were locked and there were regular deck chairs in a line for seating. I ended up going back to the room pretty early to stretch out on the lounge chair on my balcony because a) it was MUCH more comfortable and b) the movie was silly (Jupiter rising). Although bob enjoyed the movie and didn't mind the seating so he watched the whole thing.

I plan to spend most of the day today in the thermal suite. Life is good. :)

What a lovely day at sea. I can't explain it but the thermal suite was nearly empty all day. Lil slice of heaven away from the crowds.

We had a lovely lunch (scallops Agratin were superb). I haven't mentioned this yet but the service in all venues has been OUtSTANDING. Staff seems genuinely happy. It really makes a difference and I feel that getaways crew is some of the best I've ever experienced.

Awesome to hear - if you have a moment, can you tell me when the laundry special runs and how much for a bag :)

Afternoon from Nassau

Aubrey: first day was 50% off ironing. I haven't noticed any other specials but I've kept all the fliers and can look through again when we get home.

Last night we went to both the 7 and 11 comedy show. We did standby. No problem at all getting in the 7 show but the 11 was close. We went to glow party at 10:15. At 10:30 we decided we were more in the mood for comedy. Got to the line at 10:35ish and it was already into the atrium. The greeter was letting everyone know that have very low chance of getting in the show which made lots of people leave the line. They kept letting in small groups at a time. We were among the last group of 10 to be admitted. We enjoyed both shows and are glad we attended.

Before the show we ate at cagneys again. I asked about uncharged whole Maine lobster and was told there was no charge with udp but there was with sdp. This is different than what we were told in Italian restaurant. We did not order off the upgrade menu (I can post photos of menu later). Had another excellent meal with terrific (Albiet slow) service. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset from our waterfront dining table at cagneys. So romantic.

It's about 3 and the ship is nearly empty. We did all the water slides and ropes course with no lines at 12:30 and then I took a nap in the thermal lounge which was entirely empty except for me. This ship is a little slice of heaven if you stay onboard during port days :).

Thanks for the update on the laundry - is it 30.00 rate for a bag normally, that is what I remember, but just check whenever, no hurry lol

Can't wait for Cagney's, so delicious! Was the glow party dead or pretty lively? Still handing out free glow sticks?

Mmemichelle: I don't gamble much but if I walk through the casino tonight I'll take a peak.

aubrey: glow party was packed and looked like tons of fun if your into that sort of thing. We sort of music snobs so we prefer live music, but yes there were glow sticks and all the parties at spice have been very well attended. A nice thing about the mega ships, they have the numbers to put together a party :)

oMG cagneys is my all time favorite. Everything I've ever had there has been terrific. The pace is slow; but we like that as part of the whole experience. Bob likes Lebistro so we're heading there tonight.

So, we ended up taking a walk through Nassau; found a beach volleyball game down past fat Tuesday's and 5 for 20 shots n beers. Was fun but flipping HOT! Imagine how nice it was to return home to cold towels; ice cold water AND Popsicles! Entertainment staff was there too (stilts and such); but I was more interested in the Popsicle. Nice touch NCL :).

Sitting on the getaway waiting to be called for debarkation. First call happened at 7:34 am (early). We are not in a hurry so we're part of the last group.

Never did hear from the internet manager or guest services about the $25 overcharge, BUT it was removed from my account when I received my final statement. Sweet.

Lebistro last night was magnificent again. The scallops melt in your mouth. I have pics to post when we get home. Yummy

Did howl at the moon last night. The cast from burn the floor, legally blonde, illusionarium, levity, Etc were all there whooping it up. Really fun way to end the trip.

I'll do a more detailed review later but in summary I feel like I received a very good value for my travel dollar and am walking away very pleased. Those boarding, have a wonderful trip!!!!

Debarkation was a breeze. We went with last call which was at 9:45. By 10:15 we were off the ship, through customs, and on our way to the airport with SAS. Super easy and efficient.

I have uploaded all my photos to snapfish and want to post pictures, but for the life of me I can't find the URL link. Anyone know if snapfish changed their parameters and no longer host photo posts to forums?
