nodandade Posted August 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2015 hello fellow cruisers, although we have cruised many times (our first was on the spirit in Alaska)many years ago I have to ask a heap of questions regarding the spirit in Australia as we want to shout our grandies a trip to the islands here we go even though we have the kids is it much quieter out of school holiday times are gratuities added to both drinks and your room per person what is it like in school holiday times if we get two balcony rooms side by side, can the partition on the balcony be opened do carnival allow smoking on the balconies (hope not) is one side of the ship more for smoking than the other what is include on a standard balcony cabin fare that is free (e.g like ice creams, etc etc ) I know this is a big ask, but you would realy be helping a lot with any info. we would like to go mid - end of 2016 thank you so much

mississauga Posted August 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2015 hello fellow cruisers, although we have cruised many times (our first was on the spirit in Alaska)many years ago I have to ask a heap of questions regarding the spirit in Australia as we want to shout our grandies a trip to the islands here we go even though we have the kids is it much quieter out of school holiday times Yes are gratuities added to both drinks and your room per person Yes what is it like in school holiday times Can't answer that. Would think that it is busier but Carnival has a very good children's program that keeps them occupied if we get two balcony rooms side by side, can the partition on the balcony be opened Depends on the cabins. Most can be opened but there are some that cannot. Best to ask when selecting your cabins. Most times they can tell you do carnival allow smoking on the balconies (hope not) No smoking on balconies at all. is one side of the ship more for smoking than the other what is include on a standard balcony cabin fare that is free (e.g like ice creams, etc etc ) Fares and inclusions are a little different for cruises out of Australia so maybe an Aussie can answer this one for you. I know this is a big ask, but you would realy be helping a lot with any info. we would like to go mid - end of 2016 thank you so much See answers in red above

aussiedisneyfan Posted August 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2015 If you are cruising Carnival in Australia. There are no gratuities. All prices onboard are in AUD and prices shown on drinks menus are all inclusive. Also the cruisefare is inclusive of gratuities and there is no requirement to tip staff etc. You may chose to if you wish. I haven't sailed yet so can't really comment on much else. My understanding is that a standard balcony has the same inclusions as inside/outside cabins. I believe that there is a softservce icecream machine and that is included in the fare.
