missbozz Posted September 2, 2015 #26 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Also prefer late sitting. I like to maximise both sea and port days and have a leisurely dinner later than I normally eat. That's the beauty of holidays-to do what I don't normally do! [emoji1]
Scriv Posted September 2, 2015 #27 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) We prefer early sitting - enjoying aperitifs about 5 30, then down to dinner after which at least one of the shows or performances followed by a night cap in the Crows Nest and then bed before midnight. Suits us best. :) Edited September 2, 2015 by Scriv

Suits us best. :) Hi, that's what's great about cruising - doing what you suits you. We prefer freedom dining and tend to go down between 7.30 and 8pm as we like to enjoy the sailaway with a glass or two, then chill on the balcony watching the sea go by (and the last port fade in to the distance) before getting ready for the evening meal. Don't 'do' the shows etc so enjoy the meal and then a cocktail and wander around the ship on the promenade deck if there is one ;) Oh, I wish we were there now !!!! Out of curiosity, do you find that the early sitting causes issues if you have been on an excursion that returns late, the sailaway parties etc.
Scriv Posted September 2, 2015 #29 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Hi presto - Ideally 7 30 - 8pm would be our choice of time too for all the reasons you describe, but we prefer club dining, so have to go with the earlier one really to be able to do the shows afterwards as we like. And yes, it does get a bit rushed sometimes with a late return or the sailaway parties, but we are getting a dab hand at a quick change!!! We have recently sampled the late dining on Cunard and whereas we loved having more time before dinner and did see those advantages, it made the evening far too late for us. It's fun trying all the options though, isn't it. Something to suit everyone. :) Edited September 2, 2015 by Scriv

Southendweather Posted September 3, 2015 #31 Share Posted September 3, 2015 We have a saver fare, but we like the freedon dining, fingers crossed they will note we have had this on previous cruises, last time on a saver fare they allocated us freedom. I would imagine that on the Oriana this time of year, freedom would be less popular... Keith (Southend) We booked a saver fare on a recent P and O cruise and were allocated Freedom Dining. We asked the Restaurant Manager when the restaurant opened on the first night if we could change to second sitting on a table of 8. This was confirmed immediately and we had some of the best dining companions on any cruise we have taken. We had so many laughs every night of our cruise.
