The Big Booper Posted September 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2005 We are booked for the 9 nite relocation cruise on the Constellation from Bayonne NJ to San Juan this November. The only other trip we have taken on Celebrity was in 1997 on the Galaxy. We would like info on the ship, beyond the short summary in the cruise books. This will be our 20th cruise, most to the Caribbean. David
Rare Jim_Iain Posted September 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2005 What would you like to know. I just arrived on Constellation from Dover on thursday. She is a beautiful ship and in excellant condition. Constellation is the newest ship of the Millenium Class ships which are currently the largest in Celebrities fleet. The Ocean Liner Restraunt is a premium restraunt on board that is not to be missed and well worth the $30 per person surcharge. Rating food can be dangerouse on this board as each PAX has a different standard. I would rate the food prep in the main dining room as slightly better than other celebrity ships. Pastries slightly below the Millenium. The AquaSpa is a real treat and not to be missed.
The Big Booper Posted September 25, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 25, 2005 We have read that Cirque de Soleil (sp?) appears on this ship and that there is a pax masquerade with the performers. What usually happens? What other passenger activities are usually scheduled? We usually cruise on RCI and are aware that this ship will be more sedate. ;) David
Flash2 Posted September 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2005 We are booked on this relocation cruise, and were very disappointed because we are missing out Charleston SC, and having 2 sea days together, do you feel the same or did you book it after the change. The more I read on these boards the more I realise that Celebrity often change their itineraries, and as an itinerary is the main reason I decide on a cruise, it makes me reluctant to use Celebrity again! We felt Celebrity really messed up the whole appeal of the cruise. No Charleston and the first half of the cruise is now spent getting to and in the Bahamas. No thanks. For those who are going, I totally agree with anjnshelly - from the Roll Call, it sounds like a great bunch of fellow passengers! Missing meeting them is our only regret about taking a different cruise.
wv4891 Posted September 27, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2005 You are right, there is a "White Night" experience in the "Bar at the Edge of the Earth", as the former Reflections Lounge is now called. Passengers are requested to wear white and masks, but neither are required. It is more of a social event with passengers inacting with each other and some with the 5 CDS characters that roam the lounge. There is a very short CDS performance, perhaps 10 minutes max. Don't come expecting a CDS show, it does not happen. We did this on our Summit cruise last April, we just got off the Constellation from our Transatlantic cruise this last Thursday and did not attend the White Night on this cruise, we went to the Martini Bar and Casino instead. As to activities onboard, Celebrity is much more sedate than RCCL, you may have a few pool games on a Caribbean cruise with a band playing poolside for a couple of hours a day, but most activities consist of bingo, Battle of the Sexes game, trivia, Vegetable and fruit carving in the Rendez-Vous lounge, newlywed/not so newlywed game in hte Celebrity Theater, and some sport activities on the sports deck. Oh and kereoke in the Rendez-Vous lounge at night. You may also have a theme night party on deck or in one of the lounges at night. It's pretty tame. We have read that Cirque de Soleil (sp?) appears on this ship and that there is a pax masquerade with the performers. What usually happens? What other passenger activities are usually scheduled? We usually cruise on RCI and are aware that this ship will be more sedate. ;) David
