Cheers and switching cabins?

DH and I each have a cabin booked with BIL & SIL. We are planning on me switching rooms with BIL when we get on the ship. Not sure if SIL wants Cheers, but I think the rest of us do. Which of us will be out of luck with Cheers, me or BIL? TIA

Confusing question, it sounds like one couple is platinum and the other is not, so you booked for both cabins to get benefits. You can "unofficially" switch cabins and sleep wherever you want, it makes no difference how you don it. At the end of the day everyone over 21 that is "officially" in the cabin has to purchase cheers, it sounds like the person out of luck will be the one who does not want it as they will have to purchase it either way.

DH and I each got free cruises through a land based casino. We are taking BIL & SIL. SIL and I are booked in one cabin and DH and BIL in the other. I know once we check in we can go to guest services and switch me & BIL. I just wasn't sure if the Cheers program would apply to the original people booked in the cabins. I know it's confusing to me too!

What do you mean you're switching rooms?

Are you saying cabin 1 is booked you/DH and cabin 2 is booked BIL/SIL, but once on the ship you plan to have sleeping arrangements be cabin 1 DH/BIL and cabin 2 you/SIL? Or are you switching so that cabin 1 will be BIL/SIL and cabin 2 you/DH?

Personally, I would want to do this by couple. DH and I get cheers if we both want it. BIL and SIL can work that out between themselves. I guess it depends on how you're splitting the cost and how much you care whether you share the cost or only pay for what you drink.

One option if you want to share would be to do one cabin with cheers and the other cabin without. Then at the end add up the total cost of drinks (cheers for 2 and individual drinks for 1) and split the total 3 ways. Then you all pay the same amount for "all you can drink" drinks.

Everyone 21 & over booked in the same cabin has to purchase Cheers if anyone wants it. So it doesn't matter what rate or anything you booked under. Best workaround I know is to have a couple of kids and book one in each cabin with an adult. Like we just did:D

Won't be worth it for DH to get it, but I think I will.

DH and I each got free cruises through a land based casino. I have booked myself and SIL in OV Cabin, while DH has BIL booked with him in Balcony. Once on board, BIL and I will go to Guest Service and officially "switch" cabins. He will be with his wife in my OV and I will be in Balcony with DH. I'm just trying to figure out if SIL does not want Cheers program, if it will effect me (originally booked in OV) or him (who has switched to OV).

That's an awesome way around both of you having to get it!:D I guess I'm just trying to figure out if I am going to get the "shaft" on not being able to get Cheers if SIL doesn't want it even though I will be officially switching my spot with the BIL. I'm really hoping it's him, since he will be in the room with her even though it was originally booked under my name. This would be soooo much easier if she decided to get it.

No idea. I'm guessing if they actually allow you to officially switch rooms once on the ship they would charge cheers based on the new arrangement. But who am I to say? I'd be more surprised to hear that they actually let you officially switch than that they wouldn't let you get cheers if they do allow you to switch. Maybe call and ask. That way you can try to devise a plan if you need to.

OP essentially, you guys are best deciding which two wants it and which two don't. Hard to tell by what you've posted but if someone is stuck in a room with a person that doesn't want it, then the person that does won't be able to get it. If any adults are booked in the same cabin, all have to get it or nobody.

Ok, easier to answer now that more facts are known. Since it is a land based casino promotion Carnival will not care if you switch staterooms once on board. If it was one of their promos they might care. Switch cabins officially and then purchase Cheers. You and hubby will be together and will both purchase. BIL and SIL will be together and need to work it out for themselves.

OMG! Thank you for the answer. It was so hard for me to get the question to come out correctly when typing it! That was exactly my hope, hubby and I purchase it and let the BIL be mad at his wife, LOL!

How about this. Have your hubby and BIL get cheers before you switch rooms. Then switch with the BIL and you buy cheers after the switch. Maybe it's a gamble but you never know.

I don't think I would want to take that gamble. Carnival can cancel your cheers without refund. Or they might make all four purchase cheers. I think honesty is the best policy.

On my last cruise, people who wanted the Cheers program were booked together, regardless of who they were actually planning on rooming with. Once on board, after the cheers had been purchased, we went to guest services and swapped rooms so our keys would actually open the room we were staying in. We played musical cabins for a couple hours, but once we got to guest services they told us it wouldn't interfere with anyone's accounts, including Cheers.

Consider booking all drinkers in one room. And then be creative in how you get your drinks. 2 cheers programs can still support 4 drinkers, especially if the couple drink the same drink.

So, once you swapped rooms, did the sign & sail accounts follow the people who switched, or were they still set up in their originally booked cabin and you just got extra keys?

Just curious if you have already taken the cruise? I am in the same scenario I in my room with my son, under age of 21 and my wife in room with our son, under 21. She doesn't drink, but I do. So I plan on buying the package, and unofficially staying in her room so the kids can be together.

Is that what your plan is?

So I am guessing that worked ok? My DW and I booked 2 rooms, 1 of us in each with 1 son. She doesn't drink, but I was going to buy the package and then switch rooms to "our" room and then the kids can be in one. Think that will work?

This is exactly what we plan to do. We booked one child and one adult per cabin. The kids will have their own room and mom and dad directly across the hall. I'm buying Cheers. He isn't. Waste of money for him. Our cruise isn't until next year though.

Ok, just got off the Sensation today and my couch is swaying, LOL.

Anyways, this is what I did. When we got on the boat, I went to straight to guest services to ask for 2 extra keys, 1 for each room. We had connecting cabins. I kept a key and gave my oldest son a key. We then went straight to Lido deck where I purchased the Cheers package. (the lady did ask if anyone else was in the cabin over 21, and I said no as it was my youngest son.)

When we finally got to the rooms, my wife and I stayed in one and kids in another. I had to use the "extra" key to get into our room and my son had to use his "extra" key to get into their room.

Never had a problem the whole cruise.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for reporting back! People always say they will but never do.

Glad it worked out. Confirms my plans to do the exact same thing.;)

How did you like the Sensation? That's my favorite fantasy class ship.
