Carbri Posted September 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2015 My mother in law is going on her first cruise on Oct 1, the Grandeur from Baltimore. I have sailed from this port before, but I have only gone south. It tends to be a little rough around the Outer Banks but I have no idea if there is anything like that if you sail north. She is going to Halifax, St John, a place or two in Canada. I have no advice on if she would need sickness patches. I advise " yes" but would like to hear from someone helpful that can tell me if the sailing is usually smoother going north ? Thanks so much. Rare mskaufman Posted September 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2015 I have sailed north, but never in Oct. If motion sickness is a problem, I would be prepared.
Janet524 Posted September 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2015 It's impossible to know what ocean conditions will be. Be safe get the patches.
thatjenchick Posted September 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2015 I did this cruise last October. We had a bumpy last day at sea. Only time I've gone north, so can't say if that's the norm or not. Never hurts to have something with you just in case. Giantfan13 Posted September 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2015 We have done these cruises twice, but both times, late August/early September. We had no problems with the seas either time. but you just never know. A Nor-Easter could rumble up the coast at any time and make for a miserable experience. That is the chance you take at this time of year. Cheers Len
