Katomerikaf Posted December 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Is there an internet station on board and if so how much is it and do they charge by the hour or just by the minute?
Pensioncruiser Posted December 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Yes there is only used it once and found it unreliable and expensive, sorry can't remember costs I now use the free ones in coffee shops!!
gillhalfpint Posted December 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2015 We always find free wifi in a bar when we go ashore. Never tried the ship after hearing it was expensive and unreliable. Happy to sit with wifi and a drink people watching.
Katomerikaf Posted December 7, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 7, 2015 thanks! we don't have the sort of phones that we can access our email with so wifi access isn't an option but are there internet cafes in ports of call in the Caribbean? Pensioncruiser Posted December 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2015 Sorry can't help with that you could try the ships internet but it could be cheaper to buy a basic tablet that's what we did!
geomagot Posted December 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2015 yes lots of ports have free wifi in the cruise terminal (off the top of my head) barbados/aruba/st lucia most bars have free wifi (you might have to buy a drink) diamonds international/culumbian emeralds stores can be found all over the caribbean all have free wifi (usually works on the doorstep) follow the crew... they tend to know where all the free hotspots are ships wifi costs £5 for 30 minutes £18 for 180 minutes (prices afaik from last christmas on dream).... its rubbishly slooooww and only works in certain areas of the ship
WeeCountyMan Posted December 8, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2015 Sorry can't help with that you could try the ships internet but it could be cheaper to buy a basic tablet that's what we did! Good advice - an inexpensive android tablet will give you email access via wifi ashore. I bought one recently for a cruise - then discovered it synched with my Kindle so I could leave that at home and read books on the tablet, as well as email etc.
JuliaNicker Posted December 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2015 follow the crew... they tend to know where all the free hotspots are The crew from The Phillipines are always the best ones to ask about the internet, about shopping in ports of call. Such friendly people they are.
