Duty Free alcohol

Hi Lovetoboogie,

You cannot buy duty free on the aircraft, however you can buy duty free at the airport and take it into the aircraft. You do not say which flight you are on, there is a duty free shop at the Cruise ship terminal in Barbados where you buy duty free to take on the ship the shop closes at 5.00pm if you are an early arrival you should make it, only problem is a late arrival flight on Saturday where you won't make it and would shave to wait till first port of call.

Have a great cruise only a few weeks to wait for my better half and I to board Azura.

You can still buy duty free alcohol at your home airport - Gatwick or wherever and take it on the plane and then onto the ship. I think the airplane crew only say this because they also take passengers who are going on, for example a Thomson ship and they cannot take alcohol on board. The rules haven't altered as far as P&O is concerned - they still reserve the right to remove alcohol from passengers but it is only used if a passenger is obviously the worse for wear.

I thought everyone on the outgoing flights were P & O customers? they all appear to get on the buses straight off the plane?

We were on the TC flight from Manchester at 10.30 made good time to Barbados but traffic from airport was terrible, we would only just have had time to go to the port shops before the muster - we bought 2L at Manchester.

I cannot remember if they sold DF on the outbound flight or not sorry but they did on the return.

Regarding duty free to Barbados I learnt something new when we flew out earlier this month.

I was buying cigarettes and handed over my boarding card and the lady said "where are you flying to?". I said Barbados and she said its illegal to import cigarettes to Barbados. I said I would take the risk as we were not going through customs on arrival and getting straight on the ship. Other people were put off buying them.

You can take alcohol on board Thomson, you can even buy it on board in the shop and take to your cabin!!
