leaderdogmom Posted January 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2016 What is best time for anytime dining with the least wait time? We are on the February 13th sailing on a full ship. We have always had a good experience with it in the past, but have heard about long waits on the Sunshine.
Lunar Blue Posted January 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2016 We were on Sunshine last month and did YTD on 7 of the 10 nights and got a table straight away every time we went. The longest wait was 2-3 minutes in line to get a reservation. We went at various times between 6.30 and 8.30 and had a table for two. Hope that helps. Lunar Blue Posted January 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Further to my other reply, go to the Carnival Sunshine dedicated forum and there is a specific discussion about this, where several others have commented on YTD.
youagain Posted January 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2016 For elegant night go at 4:30-5 and stand in line. Otherwise there is not a very long wait unless you request same waitstaff. We had party of 9 and requested same waitstaff every night. Did not wait more than 5-10 minutes. But elegant night and New Years eve we ate right at 5:15-5:30. The lines get long on those nights. KatieCharlotte Posted January 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2016 With a party of five, we were always given a table immediately and waiting in line to check in took only a couple minutes. We got in line between 5:45 and 6:15 on most nights, including elegant night, and once at 7 p.m. We did not request a specific wait staff.

LRY229 Posted January 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2016 We sailed the Sunshine early November and only had to wait on Formal night - and that was less than 5 minutes. We always went to dinner around 6pm and there were never more than 4-6 people in line ahead of us.
leaderdogmom Posted January 10, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Thanks for the replies, I think we'll be OK if we avoid going between 6:60 and 7:30. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
CuplACruzrs Posted January 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We always choose ATD but this will be our first experience with making "reservations". Usually we enjoy "joining" and meeting others at a large table. Does anyone know if this is still a possibility or will we be limited to our 4 person group? CuplACruzrs Posted January 22, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Reservations? Well, not really, but you have to sign in ahead of time on the 5th floor Taste Bar, they give you a pager if you have to wait, then they'll let you know when your table is ready. Not sure if you can meet other people with ATD anymore??? Anyone know?
dcs1989 Posted January 22, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Just off January 3rd. This was my first experience with having to CHECK IN at a different location than the restaurant. There was no wait for me - maybe 3-5 families in front of me max with 2 people taking peoples names/seats. They ask how many will be joining you and had no issue adding more people than my reservation and accomodating. I got there from early to late on every day but elegant and it was like this. Elegant I was there early - first thing and walked right up to the lady and then walked down to the dining hall. I never actually had to wait any longer than the ticket line. When I came back up for elegant night to go to the casino the line was rediculous...and people seemed to have to wait forever (which is like every ship elegant night). I'd just go first thing that night and you should have no issues every other night.
dcs1989 Posted January 22, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Any just to respond to the above - I don't think anyone got pagers for my cruise - just a ticket with your time slot written on it. I've gotten pagers on other ships but didnt get one for the sunshine. BUT I can confirm you should have no problem dining with other guests during your time. They would just ask for my room number and how many would be dining and I adjusted up for how many people we had met that would dine with us - never needed anyone elses card / room number or anything. Even had 2 people that wernt at check -in and had no problem getting a larger table - but i could see this being an issue elegant night.
