WillWorkForCruise121 Posted January 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2016 My wife and I will be trying to get back to SNA and not LAX on the day our cruise gets back. Does anyone know the best/least expensive way to get to the Orange County/John Wayne Airport from the cruise terminal? I have found a few options but nothing that strikes me as a really great option.. (cab, uber, etc) It looks like Norwegian only offers the $25pp transfer to LAX and nothing to SNA. Also, does anyone know where the Jewel docks in the port of Los Angeles?

SadieN Posted January 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) NCL docks in San Pedro. All the cruise ships use the same few docks. Edited January 24, 2016 by SadieN
WillWorkForCruise121 Posted January 24, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Thanks for the responses. Uber was the same conclusion I am coming to as well
kenish Posted January 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2016 I'm a local and agree with Scott. Uber is the lowest-cost option (other than hitchhiking) and convenience is equivalent to a friend giving you a ride. I assume it will be on a weekend...traffic (and hence Uber time-based charges) shouldn't be too bad. This being LA, you never know though.
WillWorkForCruise121 Posted January 25, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted January 25, 2016 This was my concern about using the Uber/Lyft option. Has anyone ever had an issue with prime-time multipliers/ surge pricing after a cruise? I am hoping there aren't 30 others with the same idea and the surge rate goes through the roof. That's exactly the same thought I had with 2000 people getting off around the same time.

WillWorkForCruise121 Posted January 27, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted January 27, 2016 I agree ... but even if 15 or 20 are uber savvy. ... it will likely put surge pricing into effect... guess I'll just have to give it a try and hope for the best
kenish Posted January 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I've never experienced surge pricing, but if it happens, Uber and various travel websites recommend waiting a few minutes and trying again. Drivers see the surge pricing in effect and head to the area. That balances supply and demand. Also, I'm guessing that many drivers pre-stage themselves around San Pedro, knowing there will be business from cruise passengers. Cruisin' Chick Posted January 28, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2016 I think it'll be more the date. If you're finishing a cruise on a holiday, that may affect prices (from what I understand about Uber --we have never booked them). Remember, too, that many who are going on cruises out of LA and LB (Carnival) are local, and usually park at the port.
