Calling all Coffee Lovers!

For those of us (and I believe there are many!) who can’t live without our favorite brand of coffee in the morning, it’s pure torture to be on a ship that serves coffee that tastes like ditchwater. Fortunately, not all cruise lines are created equal when it comes to coffee, which is where your experiences come in.

Is the dining room serving up better morning coffee than the breakfast buffet (or room service)? What do you think of shipboard coffee venues? Please share your opinions and experiences for an upcoming Cruise Critic article on the best brews at sea -- we're particularly interested in hearing what you have to say about Disney, Oceania and RSSC.

Not a coffee gourmet here (don't care for either Starbucks or Peet's), but we thought the buffet coffee on Regatta last month was fine.

Grand Dining Room coffee also was fine - didn't try it in Toscana or the steakhouse.

We like to grind our own beans because we like coffee strong and black.

The coffee on Oceania, even the decaf, is decent. The coffee in Horizons for the Continental Breakfast was the best that we found onboard. The coffee served at the breakfast buffet varied. We had decaf with dinner in the Grand Dining Room, Toscana and Polo. It was consistently good.

Since you also want opinions on other lines - and via comparison - Oceania is better than Orient and Viking, HAL was better on some ships, not as good on others.

We like good, strong coffee and drink it black. In order to get around the mild coffee we request two espressos in same cup and have it topped up with regular coffee. The staff are very helpful and obliging. Otherwise, the coffee machine self-serve (in the Terrace Cafe) provides an alternative, although not as strong.
