The best way to rent a car in Cozumel

Hi!

 

I'm having some difficulty getting any car companies in Cozumel to respond to my emails regarding renting a car. I'm hoping someone on CC can give some guidance. Here is my situation: I'd like to rent from a company that is either close or has pick-up from the International Pier. Given the number of people in our party and the varied locations we want to visit, I don't think it's practical or economical for us to use taxis despite the difficulties with renting cars in Mexico. I'd prefer to rent before we get to Cozumel so we aren't spending too much time filling out paper work or find out that no cars are available when we dock.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

IMHO you are better off not renting a car -- hire a driver for 1/2 day or by the hour and let someone else worry about directions, traffic and parking.

 

Been to Coz many times and have never been tempted to rent a car.

We've rented in Cozumel before, with no issues. And, will be there again this week to do the same thing. We are using AVIS, which is located near the Punta Langosta pier. $25 for the day plus insurance.

We are renting a Jeep this upcoming week. We almost inadvertently booked a car walking distance from the pier - the wrong pier. Ernesto's is a local company that is near the intl pier and they responded to my emails within 24 hrs.

Make sure what pier the ship is docking on. Go to a car rental site, google for coupons, fill in info. Quick and easy, we rented a jeep twice for our family.
