Taxes to buy iPad in X during cruise Vancouver to AK

If we use OBC toward the purchase of an iPad while on X ship sailing from Vancouver to Seward, AK....do we have to pay IS taxes? We are US citizens.

 

Would not think it would matter which ship...but we are on Millie.

When we bought an ipad 1 1/2 years ago, on the Equinox, we paid no sales tax. I don't think what ship you are on, or where it is, makes a difference.

No taxes when you are not in port (and they won't sell you anything when in port) Technically, I think you would owe duty if you exceeded your tax-free exemption - and I believe the ship reports on board purchases to customs.
