iceman2a Posted April 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Did they not have any "same category" balconies on the port side of the ship? To me, the BB you have and the BA they offered is not much different. But if it is your preference to move to the port side, your room size and balcony size will be the same! Square Posted April 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Sorry, haven't been on the Escape yet. Is there any specific reason that port side is better? I've been doing some research for an upcoming cruise on that ship and this is the first I've seen of a preference on side of ship. Hopefully someone who has sailed can stop by and help. Rare blackwing Posted April 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2016 I've never cared what side I was on. If it's because you want to see a certain view as you are arriving/departing a particular port... well you could always go up to the pool deck or other public space for the view. I'm much more concerned with whether we are fore or aft. I prefer aft, it's that much closer to the water dispenser and food.
Rare BirdTravels Posted April 13, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Hi, I've booked Escape 17th September. Got mid ship balcony room on deck 13(13804). Called today to ask about other options as would like port side. Got offered:Category BA - Deck 15 Portside (midship); Balcony Cabin ; Additional £72 Mini Suite with Balcony - Guarantee cabin (You wont know where your cabin is on the ship); Additional £112 Category MA - Deck 15 Portside; Mini Suite with Balcony; Additional £428 The Minisuite room is about the same as the balcony. Most of the additional space goes to the bathroom. If you want a larger toilet area, double sinks, and a spacious shower, do the Minisuite Guarantee. We have booked minisuites both times we sailed on the Escape. Our preference is to be near a lift. Edited April 13, 2016 by BirdTravels

LrgPizza Posted April 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Thanks folks. Think I'm just going to stay where I am. :) Good decision. I was getting ready to say not to book deck 15, because you'd have a huge overhang above your balcony and also lots of noise from the pool deck above.
