Do I really need long wool underwear etc?

Recommended Posts

Just returned from a lovely cruise which included a port in southern Norway on the 7th of May. Temperature was about 20 degrees Centigrade. It was lovely sitting outside with a drink, it is amazing what the gulf stream does to our climate compared with the US at the same latitude.

Thanks all--finally getting back here after a month of inactivity due to work. We probably are coming from high 90's temperatures being in Georgia, USA with high humidity and no never get used to the high heat and humidity. Looking forward to cooler temperatures. :-) After reading all the responses still undecided on what to do--it's the one suitcase allowed which is a killer when you are gone for almost 3 weeks. It's great, BOTH, that you will be there in late June and have received so much good and detailed feed-back for exploring these many wonderful areas along the Norway coast. As noted and shown visually in my live/blog connected below, this is an exciting area with so much to see and do. It can get cool up there, both with the temperature and winds. BUT, layering can help. Also, consider something as simple as having a blanket to do a "wrap" while outside, as needed, in places with cooler conditions. That saves some packing worries/needs! Other questions on the North Cape, these many stops along the Norway Coast? Feel free to post any added info needs on my live/blog. Happy to share as much as is possible and needed.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Here are two views of the North Cape as we approached and the clouds started to clear and the sun broke through showing a great blue sky. The ship did a full 360-degree rotation to allow all on the ship, whether on the top deck as we were or in their rooms on both sides, to be able to see this wonderful spectacle of the North Cape. The second shot allows a great look at the detail for this massive rock formation at the top of Europe.:

It’s fun to get these “for the record” shots of family and friends posing with the North Cape in the background. Notice the smart use of blankets for a little extra warmth?:
