Swells1 Posted April 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Is it possible to go there on our own- without being in a tour group or ship excursion? Is it even feasible to consider this?
Rare Lionesss Posted April 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) Sure anything is possible. But.............I would not go independently on your own here. You would have to pay for a cab, get dropped off and then wait for a cab...........I would be leary of waiting for the cab to come back. Unless you book a tour on land, not thru ship. The caves are neat. There is a visitors welcome area with a refreshment stand to buy water and small items and clean modern restrooms for use here. Then you can do the caves. You cannot go thru them on your own you will need a guide, so thats where the $ comes in. Wear sneakers or great walking shoes, try not to wear flip flops are loose fitting clogs, you need support because part of the walking trail is wet and slippery. My DH who is always prepared took a small flashlight and it came in handy when you had to go down the unlighted stairs to the underground lake. The history of these caves is presented by the guide. Enjoy, we did. Safe travels. Edited April 23, 2016 by Lionesss
