After 8 days crossing the Atlantic, we arrived at our first European port. The beautiful island of Madeira.

So for our day in Madeira, I booked a tour with Daniel Madeira Taxi. I had read about them here on cruise critic. I had emailed them back and forth about a private tour. They had suggested Tour # 8 East would be best for first timers to the Island.

 

 

Honestly, any tour that covers Santana and Pico do Areeiro is a must do in Madeira

Our guide Leandro Janes, was waiting for us right outside the cruise terminal. we were a group of 5. He had a nice sized taxi

 

 

after our pick up, he gave us a brief overview of the island. We drove around Funchal for a bit before stopping at a local fish market.

after the fish market we were on our way to pico do areeiro but first we made a photo stop.

after our stop in Santana we stopped for lunch at Ponte Velha Restuarante . Out of all the meals I've had in Europe throughout my life, this place makes top 3
