Never have I lived so vicariously through a review before, Gambee! Your Escape review is so thorough and amazing! MY DH and I are supposed to be on the Escape right now. I ended up being hospitalized Thursday night for pulmonary emboli and we kissed our week in the Haven Goodbye! Your review is definitely helping me with the last minute cruise cancellation depression!! Thank you for that! I love how you have come out of your shell and are showing us photos of you and your Mom, and putting yourself out there to meet new people! You are having so much fun! Your port plans in St Thomas and Tortola were exactly the same as ours, so I really appreciate seeing what we missed! Reviews are not an easy task, especially those as thorough as yours. Thank you for taking the time to do it!

May I say how much I hate this area of Nassau, not only does it smell really bad, but you also get bombarded from all angles. It is quite an intense experience!

It was our last that of a 7 day cruise, and this was the first time that we had a port on the last day. I will be honest and say that I don’t care for it. The last day I usually spend taking pictures that I missed and relaxing. On this cruise it felt like I was always running on the last day, and in the end, I never managed to accomplish everything that I needed to do.

 

 

I agree with you. We have had a couple of cruises with a port call on the last day and I don't care for it either. I like being out at sea with time to relax and finish what I wanted to accomplish aboard the ship. I appreciate the down time before the hassle of departure day and having to get home.

Mom felt insecure carrying the bag with all the documentation, so she asked me to carry it for her.

 

 

The walk to the Hilton is not too bad, I think maybe around 15 minutes or so.

The cost is $60 per person, and they give you $40 as credit to use per person. So in reality it only costs $20 to enter, and then you have 40 to use for drinks and food. The hotel is very nice, and the beach is very clean. Much better than the Hilton we visited in Jamaica.

By the way they are expanding the hotel, it is going to be huge! Actually from the looks of it, it seems like they might take part of junkanoo beach. But I could be wrong.

 

 

Service in the hotel was lackluster, but not horrible. The only bad experience we had was during check-in, that lady seriously need an attitude adjustment if she wants to work in hospitality.

We also bought the internet, I think it was $10. But that lady was so mean, at first she did not wanted to sell it to us. But eventually she did.

Since our server was nowhere to be seen, I went to the bar to order some food.

The food came out quickly, maybe 20 minutes or so. He brought it out for us.

 

 

I ordered the lobster for my mom. Which was very good.

 

 

And the Mahi mahi for me, it was really fresh!

My only issue was the amount of flies when the food got there, we had to eat really fast.

Your pass also includes kayak use. You just have to check it out with the towel guy. Oh, towels are also included.

Eventually he managed to get the butter out.

 

 

I think we stayed there for a little under 3 hours. The main issue is that I kept thinking of Vibe and all the special treatments we got over there. So we decided to head out.

 

I think our bill was like $82 so we owe them $2 plus we left extra for service. That was for 2 cokes and the food. Not drinks. My stomach was still on strike.

As we are walking out my mom tells me that we have to walk very slow, I asked her why. Then she told me that she brought the wrong sandals and they were opening up her skin.

 

I asked her if she could use mine, she tried them on and it seem to work. Then she asked what about me, I told her I would be ok. I know what my feet can tolerate. I just had to keep an eye out for broken glass. Other than the dirt on the streets I should be ok, I would just wash them when I got on board.

And me. Was the floor hot? It was ok for the most part, yes it was hot, but it only burned with dark asphalt. I just had to keep an eye where I walked.

Mom went into some stores, I think she was looking for a nativity scene.

 

 

 

This place looked legit! It had a long line! I don't have many memories from my father, but one thing I recall is that if there is a line, you have to stop and try the food. He is a chef by the way.

There was a bit of a long line to go back in, and my feet were ready for a break.

 

 

 

The problem with her sandals is the gray rubber, it digs into the skin. They are also very heavy. But these are her Lido deck sandals so she won’t slip like on Divina. She just forgot to get her port sandals that day.

He was doing some touch-ups.

 

 

The really weird thing is that I always seem to get sick in Nassau, last time was on the Victory with those damn eggs benedict.

I guess I showered and cleaned my feet and then head up to try the rope course.

 

But when I got there I noticed it was closed. They seemed to be fixing the third zip line, which never worked during the entire cruise.

I also went up to what they call the AFT Sundeck, and what I call the bouncing noise deck. Really, don’t go there. There is no way you can relax with basketballs bouncing all over the place.

I thought of doing the slide, but the line was rather long. So I just went to Vibe.

 

 

 

Ro noticed that I was not feeling well, so she gave me a mini foot rub. She also asked my mom what was wrong with me. I was just really sore in my tummy.
