Hyatt Regency Miami ?'s

Our TA booked us for a one night pre-cruise in January 2006 at the Hyatt Regency. I figured the hotel was fine, since TrentS had included it in his recommendations (I've been reading the posts and really appreciate the info) Can we safely walk to Bayside from here? Are there any impressive restaurants or cafes (not terribly expensive or too high class) within walking distance if Bayside isn't a good idea? We're arriving late afternoon so don't want to have to dress up much. We would really like to try some authentic Cuban cuisine. Any recommendations, that are nearby? Or within a cheap taxi ride? Our just any recommendations on restuarants? I spend a great deal of time on where I'll be eating. One of my downfalls :). Thanks for any help!

I really don't recommend walking anywhere from the Hyatt. It would be okay during the day, but due to all the massive construction projects throughout the downtown area and closed sidewalks it's safest to take a taxi. I would not walk at night at all.

A taxi to Bayside is very inexpensive, there are several restaurants there.

Just south of the Hyatt there's a Capital Grille... http://www.thecapitalgrille.com/

And a few blocks farther south there's a Morton's... http://www.mortons.com/

And a Gordon Biersch... http://www.gordonbiersch.com/

If you want Cuban food you should go to Versailles, it's THE Cuban restaurant in Miami, about 15 minutes west of downtown Miami... http://miami.diningguide.com/data/d100593.htm
