TeachKinde Posted July 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2016 We're booked on a Pacific Coast Cruise. We've been to most ports by car because we live in the Northwest. I'm trying to picture where cruise ships port in Astoria and Monterey. I'm assuming we tender in? Any help appreciated! (Sorry if I spelled anything incorrectly! ;-)
wheezedr Posted July 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2016 You dock in Astoria, that is assuming you get in across the mouth of the Columbia. You tender in Monterey as well as Santa Barbara if you are going that far.
mtwingcpa Posted July 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2016 IIRC there is only room for one ship at the dock in Astoria. So if there is more than one ship in port on that day, as is frequently the case during the spring or fall repositioning, the others will have to tender. Been there, done that. :-)
SadieN Posted July 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2016 The Astoria pier is to the west of the 101 bridge. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Ronnie1a Posted August 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2016 At Monterey they anchor in the bay and tender you to Fisherman's Wharf. There is no pier. At the other end of the wharf is the start of the Monterey downtown area. You can also walk to Cannery Row _all shopping and restaurants and the Aquarium. About a 1/2 hour walk but very pleasant one.
