gometros Posted October 10, 2016 #126 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Sorry typo......yes NYC. So would I enjoy NYC cruises' date=' being here in CT. I was just thinking that you figure 5-6 months in Alaska and Panama Canal re positioning trips and then another 4 or 5 months, fall, winter and spring out of NYC...That almost fills the year and they would not need the dunk slide. From my understanding the Galveston cruises never sell well, but the NYC ones do! Just a Thought. AKK[/quote'] Having cruised on the QM2 out of Red Hook in December, being able to cruise south on the Wonder is something I'd jump in a heartbeat. I've sailed on the Magic twice out of NYC, once disembarking and going straight to work on the west side (best commute ever) and last week, leaving work to board her. So convenient. There is something unique cruising out of NY in the winter, like coming back from a Southern Caribbean cruise to arrive with 2 inches of snow on our veranda. That was a real rude welcome back. Did the magic get them when is was in dry dock? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Ex techie Posted October 11, 2016 Author #135 Share Posted October 11, 2016 Interesting, she doesn't have a rudder bulb connecting the props to the rudder. Did the magic get them when is was in dry dock? Your maritime terminology has gone over my head there Arthur! Can you ask again in more layman's terms? ex techie
ArthurUSCG Posted October 11, 2016 #136 Share Posted October 11, 2016 The rudder bulb closes the gap between the rudder and the prop. Usually they are about the same size as the hub of the rudder. It helps to streem line the water flow. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Ex techie Posted October 11, 2016 Author #139 Share Posted October 11, 2016 That was the pic I was looking for. I thought I saw them on the Magic They make aqua dynamic sense! ArthurUSCG Posted October 12, 2016 #140 Share Posted October 12, 2016 At this point, engineers are chasing fractions of a % in efficiency. The Magic and Wonder must have achieved the design requirements without them. But needed them to meet the efficiency requirements as part of the ducktail addition. Ex techie Posted October 15, 2016 Author #145 Share Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the photos guys. I don't now how you find them all! Akk Lots of Googling' date=' and checking social media pages and accounts has been my method! Very frustrating at times! Even the lifeboats are getting a new coat of Mickey's shoes yellow! Great find Travis! They look so sun bleached before, it's a shame they let them get that way. I can see why some have said the Wonder was overly ready for drydock, but they look great now! ex techie Edited October 15, 2016 by Ex techie

Ex techie Posted October 15, 2016 Author #147 Share Posted October 15, 2016 It is worth noting that the lifeboats in the picture will have been sanded and keyed to accept the new paint (no markings visible), but that is a shame to hear you could see she was more than ready in other areas Arthur. ex techie
Ex techie Posted October 16, 2016 Author #148 Share Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) Scott has posted some pictures on his blog: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2016/10/mid-october-look-disney-wonder-dry-dock/ The bow in blue before the yellow scrollwork is painted in. A Concierge sun deck has been added above the lounge. I hope it isn't too windy that high up. Also bring some ear defenders for when they blow the Mickey whistle!:D Visit the blog for more pictures. ex techie Edited October 16, 2016 by Ex techie

EJanss Posted October 17, 2016 #150 Share Posted October 17, 2016 While it's probably been mentioned by now, when I booked a February cruise, the agent gushed that I'd get to see all the post-drydock changes before she could, including the new restaurant-- I asked what was being replaced, and no surprise, looks like Parrot Cay on the Wonder is the rotation restaurant phased out for the new "Tiana's Place", while Triton's is staying. (And Tiana's Place should really be at French Quarter, if they ever want to open the resort's sit-down restaurant again.) :)
