Reef Snorkel Trip

We are avid snorkelers and will be in Belize City on a Norwegian cruise - would like advice about the best way to snorkel the barrier reef without the island time wasted. We want true snorkeling not beach time. Have been to Belize before to stay but never cruised there. thanks,

I'd recommend hoping on the water taxi and heading over the Caye Caulker for the day. It's an easy walk from the pier and reasonably priced. If you don't want to waste any time at all, flying is also an option. I believe there are 2 airlines that fly but I'm not sure on the names of those. Maybe someone else can chime in.

 

Once at Caye Caulker I'd recommend a visit to Caveman Snorkeling Tours. He's amazing. Give him a google over on Trip Advisor or look up some of his reviews here. He's great and we had a blast with him. His private tour price is also reasonable in my opinion. Especially if you can get together a group of 4.

Where do you find the water taxi schedule for Caye Caulker?

Depending on the time of year you go there may be a difference in 1 hour due to day light savings.

Better off going with Coral Breeze Tours - takes to the Hol Chan Reserve (shark ray alley) and Coral Gardens. A couple of hours at Caye Caulker. Water Taxi to/from won't give you that much time with the schedule. Doable but I don't suggest it.
