Disembarkation Time at Ports

Recommended Posts

Hi -

Going on Allure at the end of this month - first time cruiser! One of the ports (Nassau) is 7am-2pm and makes me wonder how much time we'll really have on land.

Please advise what is the typical length of time for disembarkation? Do people line up at 6am in order to get off at 7am? What do I need to know? And if ship departs at 2pm, what time do we have to be back at the ship?

thanks in advance!

In my experience, guests line up at least 30 minutes or more to be the first to disembark in ports.

Regarding boarding the ship in port, we always are back at LEAST 60 minutes before stated departure. The closer to departure time, the longer the lines of passengers boarding the ship.

When in port, please ensure your watch remains on SHIP TIME, not port time!

Hope this helps...

In ports like Nassau, you can typically get off rather quickly. This past week, we were supposed to arrive at 8am and they made an announcement at 8am that we had been in port for a couple of hours and that people were already off the boat. We walked down and there was no line. Tender ports take much longer. Depending on what you are planning to do, keep in mind that many shops, restaurants, etc. may not be open that early though.

It's like leaving a hotel....most folks aren't all that concerned about "rushing" off the ship! Many will have breakfast, and leave when they're ready.....after all, folks are on vacation...not heading off to commute to work! And, in Nassau, there will be a good number who won't leave the ship at all....

isn't priority departure given to shore excursions and everyone else has to wait till they depart?

Priority departure is more of a tender thing. When docked at piers, they don't normally need priority.
