rojo2012 Posted October 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Has anyone ever requested balcony partitions to be opened On adjoining suites? I have requested this but was told it isn't possible? Interested in hearing if this is standard procedure. Thanks in advance. R
duct tape Posted October 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2016 It depends on the ship. Newer SS ships have the ability to be opened.
suncouple1635 Posted October 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2016 We had them open the partition on the destiny for us once it was ok depends on the ship plus the door swung to our side created less space in our balcony. rojo2012 Posted October 4, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Thank you duct tape and suncouple1635. We are sailing on Silver Spirit. It's not a big deal, but I was surprised that it wasn't possible.
AtMaui Posted October 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2016 In 2014 on the Spirit I was able to have the door opened. When I asked in 2015, I was told no. Jaci
rojo2012 Posted October 6, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Thank you Jaci. Did they give any explanation why the partition couldn't be opened? R
Silver Sweethearts Posted October 6, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) Thank you Jaci. Did they give any explanation why the partition couldn't be opened?R From what we have read here on CC, it is also at the discretion of the Captain. Fire safety is paramount, of course, and should there be a fire, closed partitions obviously stand a much better chance of slowing the fire's spread. Firefighting personnel do know how to get them open though if need be. Edited October 6, 2016 by Silver Sweethearts
AtMaui Posted October 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 7, 2016 No explanation given, Rojo. The butler just said it was no longer allowed. Jaci
