Sonora5 Posted December 7, 2016 Author #51 Share Posted December 7, 2016 Thank you easyboy. If you are reading this account to find out about entertainment on the Eurodam you may be disappointed. We find most cruise ship entertainment a little cheesy and we rarely go to the nightly shows. These shows often like to deploy that fake fog stuff, and that bothers Mr. S's lungs. But we do like to play trivia, and we are very good at it (as long as they ask questions we know the answers to). So we played trivia a bunch of times on the Eurodam. The best trivias were the Name that Tune ones that Joel did in the Billboard. We won a lot of them, thanks to fellow cruisers we inveigled on to our team. We also did well on the movie trivia, also done by Joel. We sort of liked the culinary trivias done by Easlin. She did not always show up for theme however. Hamish the cruise director had daily team trivias in the Crow"s Nest during Happy Hour. These were very well attended and in fact got so crowded we quit going. There was a BBC trivia in the Queens' Lounge on night that was really good, and we won it again thanks to some cruisers who joined our team. It was more involved than the usual 15 questions and had visual aids, which was fun. The worst were the travel trivias put on by Nidia. She was an unpleasant host and the questions were more in the area of minutiae than trivia. So after a time or too we skipped them. Of all the cruise director staff I would say she was the weak link. We skipped her port discussions as well after hearing a bad review of them from another cruiser.

ZN1300 Posted December 9, 2016 #58 Share Posted December 9, 2016 If you have been on the Eurodam before this may be new to you. When we were last on the ship this area was the disco "Northern Lights". It has the appearance of being a quiet place but it is adjacent to the casino. ZN1300 Posted December 9, 2016 #61 Share Posted December 9, 2016 This is the place where the music trivia was held. If you look in the middle, sort of, of the picture, you can see the Gallery Bar. So the Billboard and Gallery bars where never quiet because of the casino.

ZN1300 Posted December 9, 2016 #63 Share Posted December 9, 2016 The big screen was nice. Not everything is HD though. The forward and aft camera pictures were pretty bad. The new looking ship TV channel is nice although there is some info the used to be on the old "Captains Log" that is missing. The distance to and from ports was missing along with the sea wave heights and probably something else I'm forgetting. The Captain did say its a new program and they are wanting to change it. Sonora5 Posted December 15, 2016 Author #64 Share Posted December 15, 2016 We passed thru the straits of Gibraltar at night, again! We would like to see the rock of Gibraltar in the day sometime. We were out on our balcony as we passed thru and could see the large, dark shape that we think is the rock. Views of Africa from the other side of the ship were spectacular. We had nothing planned for Cadiz so took our time getting off the ship. We were pleased to see that the HOHO stopped right outside the pier-a very short walk. Many cruisers and crew were huddled together in the terminal enjoying free wifi. It was a beautiful day in Cadiz, so we hopped on the HOHO and went to the top to enjoy a spin around Cadiz. There was a lot going on in the harbor, including some kind of skanky looking cruise ships of a lesser line. We enjoyed the crisp air, a product of being on the Atlantic coast rather than the Mediterranean. Mr. S's ankle was still bothering him so we stopped at a farmacia and bought the spanish version of an ace bandage. We also picked up a couple of souvenirs, and ended our day in Cadiz. I know there were people who took the trip to Seville and really enjoyed it, but we will save that for our next stop there. We had a nice meal at the Lido, did our thermal suite visit and the BBC trivia, and then retired to get ready for our first sea day.
