Preacherman46 Posted February 4, 2017 #28 Share Posted February 4, 2017 We are not used to the fog issue. We have sailed in and out of New Orleans in fog with no problems. Just wondering why it's different in Galveston realizing it's river sailing for several hours at N.O. Thanks.:)
Galveston Cruiser Posted February 4, 2017 #29 Share Posted February 4, 2017 This is a Port of Galveston and Coast Guard decision. The channel is very narrow, the intercoastal canal crosses the channel and there are varying depths in the channel making it imperative to be spot on with navigation. All good reasons to cease ship operations.
