Radiance Alaska Southbound vs Voom

Recommended Posts

Once upon a time I thought I read that Voom works best in the Caribbean regions due to satellite positions. Wondering how Voom Surf & Stream works in Alaska?

Experiences? Sailing Radiance in particular....

I was on Radiance in Hawaii last April when they just called in WiFi. I was back again in August for a southbound Alaska cruise when they called it Voom. Didn't see a difference. Most of the time it worked well enough to upload and post pictures. Didn't work at all in Skagway. I was not impressed.

No RC ships with O3b service go to Alaska.

Royal is selling VOOM on Radiance of the Seas, I have it booked for May and already bought the internet package.

They say it is fleetwide now http://www.royalcaribbean.com/voom

There is fine print about being north/south > 45 degrees: https://www.o3bnetworks.com/technology/service-coverage/

Essentially Alaska is a "limited service" area...

^ what RCI doesn't tell you is that there are two versions of VOOM and only O3B equipped ships have that limitation. As was mentioned, none of the ships going to Alaska have that limitation because they don't have O3B.
