Dh and I are thinking about trying NCL (we've been on two other lines). Question is: if we book on a third-party site, are we able to make changes/access our account on NCL's website? The last cruise I booked was through a third-party site and I was unable to make any changes to my cruise without going through that site.

Define changes? Once booked you will be able to use the NCL website to manage your account to book tours, make reservations for dining, etc. But you cannot change rooms, change Cruise dates or anything else like that.

You can book shows (mega ships), dinners, shore excursions, cruise extras.

 

You can not change any of these online (even if you booked with NCL). You need to call your TA.

Booking a cruise through a third party site is not like booking a hotel or plane. The site you book through will be your travel agency and most times you'll be assigned a specific person as your travel agent. If you book with a travel agent, the cruise line will not talk to you about your booking. You can't do price drops, change cabins, cancel, etc without going through your travel agent. You can book dining reservations, shore excursions, things like that however; anything that isn't a change to the booking.
