Earliest train from Venice

We are scheduled to arrive into Venice at 6:45am (Rhapsody/July 22 return). Any chance I would make an 8:42 train at Venezia S. Lucia, or is that cutting it too close? Better off with the 9:50am?

Thanks for the advice!

Doubtful but possible. Arrival doesn't mean immediate disembarking, also how do you plan to get to Santa Lucia? If you're taking the People Mover to Piazzale Roma and then walking across the bridge to the train station you need to allow a half hour, even though it's only a distance of less than a mile. One factor that may impact the speed of disembarkation is whether or not your entire cruise is within the Schengen area, in which case there's no immigration issues to deal with. That would make things go faster.

Are you asking because you are considering purchasing tickets in advance? There's some risk to that since a discounted ticket is virtually useless if you miss the train.

Exactly this. We will use the people mover and walk. I guess our best option is the 9:50am departure so there isn't any stress or rush.

That would be the wise choice. We assume you are aware it is a bit of a hike and you will have to haul your luggage over the pedestrian bridge to get to the station.

Indeed. We're two young, fit-enough guys. Shouldn't be an issue, but we're aware nonetheless!
