Kimmarie Posted June 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I'm new to cruising and was told that our birth certificate has to have a raised seal, the problem is my step daughter was born in San Diego California and her birth certificate doesn't have a raised seal and when I called them they said they don't give certificates with a raised seal, does any one know anything about this and will this be a problem? srphnx Posted June 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2004 It is a common practise for certified BC's to have a raised seal but not in all cases. It should not be an issue. My own BC is from Germany where I was born to my Army Parents on a US base, it isn't raised either, I cruise a lot and do not have a passport. verwirrt Posted June 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Steve, Landstuhl, perhaps? My kids were born there.
Brneyznfl Posted June 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2004 It depends on the state. Some states issue birth certificates with a raised seal, others use an ink stamp. TinaLee Posted June 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Hey Verwirrt! Don't know about Steve, but I was born at Landstuhl! Air Force brat here. Small world! Got tired of carrying around my Report of Birth of a Child Born Abroad to American Parents for 20+ cruises and broke down and got a passport this year! And not a moment too soon, that paperwork was getting pretty thin!! TinaLee Sail Away on Caribbean Princess

verwirrt Posted June 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Now, Steve, I did recognize that you said Army. My kids were born at Landstuhl ARMY Regional Medical Center, one of the largest military hospitals. Air Force personnel in the area use it. But, I'm ex-Air Force myself! sue d. miller Posted June 14, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Sharon, I don't know how far back you go, but I was at SAC bases. There was nothing like an alert, or the nightly takeoffs with the B52's and 135's in 30 second intervals, each going to the side to avoid wake. The house rattled, and the only way #2 son would go to sleep is after they went over. Being a baby, he was probably in shock!! Sue 7 days on Star Princess 10/24 GROWING OLD IS MANDATORY..... verwirrt Posted June 14, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Sue, My Dad was stationed at Fairchild AFB when I was a kid. They had the B52's there. I still remember the sonic booms. I worked on the flightline at Ramstein. We had F16's and C5's. The F16's are fast, very loud and impressive. The C5's always impressed me, though. Those things are HUGE! I was always amazed that they could even make it off the ground!! Sharon
sue d. miller Posted June 14, 2004 #15 Share Posted June 14, 2004 LOL!! I used to call the C5's the bubble because of the nose. Did you ever use your hands to help get them airborne? I used to do that all the time. Just expected them to fall!! Sue 7 days on Star Princess 10/24 GROWING OLD IS MANDATORY.....
