cclpc Posted August 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2017 We are booking a one-way northbound cruise from Vancouver to Whittler for my elderly parents. While I understand it doesn't matter overall if you choose either side, we are booking a balcony room and wanted to choose the best for them (for same room category and location). Here's what I understand after reading many threads, does anyone have any other point to add? Thanks a lot! Port side is better overall because: - when going inside Glacier Bay and College Fjord, most commentary from rangers and scenery is on the port side. Although the captain will turn the ship, the port side is still better for this part. - great sunset - photo from balcony is better, ref: http://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/showthread.php?t=2407746
montereybob Posted August 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2017 I prefer starboard going north for best overall scenic views of the large snow cpped mountains.
cruiseguy1016 Posted August 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2017 On a northbound cruise there will always be land on the starboard side, though not always visible. The best side of the ship to be on for viewing scenery is the OUT side.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2017 Given what you have said since this is Northbound I would go with a room on the starboard side. Keith
