First time NCL cruiser. List of questions.

We are frequent Disney, Royal and Princess cruisers, this will be our first time on NCL. So many questions.

I see they say no bottle water or soda can be brought on board. How picky are they about that? Like if I have a bottle or two in my backpack at boarding, will they really take that single bottle?

Beverage package. Does it include coffee an virgin drinks? I am not a huge drinker, I will have a few at night but not out in the sun while watching my kids. Can I get something like a virgin frozen Pina Colada? My MIL is a big coffee drinker and spends a lot of our trips on the search for the best cup of coffee. How is the coffee in general, is there better coffee available with the package? And do they restock the room coffee make coffee without a charge?

Mini bar. I have a child with very poor impulse control, will the room steward empty the mini bar if we request? Or is there a place in the room to hide the items? We are going on the Getaway and storage looks low and limited.

I assume so, but do they have cartons of chocolate milk on the buffet for breakfast or other meals upon request?

Do they have a complimentary limited breakfast room service menu? Like can we get just a pot of coffee, hot tea and some cereal or muffins delivered without the $7.95 charge?

Kids clubs. How are they? We loved Disney, but hey, it is Disney and no one is going to truely compare. But Royal's kids clubs were the only big disappointment over and over on their ships. They just play a variety of elimination games with slightly different rules, which is great if english is your first language and you are good at those games. But for the 80% of kids who aren't the ones winning over and over, it gets old quick and they don't enjoy it. It was especially frustrating for my child who has autism, these are not inclusive games. What are everyone's experiences?

How is the kids programming now that Nick has been removed??? Happy kids=Happy Mom

Harvest Caye. Anyone have prices or menus? I see reviews that people mostly dislike the high prices. Do they have any type of tram service?

TIA!

that depends on the port/terminal. some places are more picky then others. you may and may not get lucky with that single bottle

yes, talk to the room steward they can either empty it or lock it. DO NOT REMOVE THE ITEMS otherwise you might get charged. this best to let the room steward take care of it

Yes. Chocolate milk is always available at the buffet. if you want it for lunch/dinner, just ask and they might get it for you.

continental breakfast items is free. Coffee, Tea, Muffins, etc is free. if you want any kind of hot food then you have to pay that charge

Looks like you already rec'd some good answers.

Since you are new to NCL, I would scan down through a few pages of posts. You will find answers to even more questions (that you did not even know you had).

Have a good cruise.

On theJewel class ships, even though regular coffee is an included “free” drink, the only bar which serves coffee drinks isthe Java café in the atrium. All coffeeand coffee drinks incur a charge here with or without Ultimate BeveragePlan. Virgin drinks are includedin the UBP. Free coffee is so-so. I haven’t tried the for fee specialtycoffee. I’ve only cruised in suites andthe coffee pods are replenished without extra charge. The UBP includes only fountain drinks fromthe bars, beer, wine, mixed drinks. Nocoffee, no bottles of water.

Harvest Caye. Anyone have prices or menus? I see reviews that people mostlydislike the high prices. Do they have any type of tram service? There are trams from theboat to the shore and back. Most peoplejust walk. If you rent a Cabana, theywill take your group there on a golf cart. I thought the food and drink prices were similar to a public port.

1. Yes, they are strict about the beverage policy. On embarkation I was required to toss a bottle of soda I was drinking and in port they would catch single water bottles and make you toss those. You can bring on an empty bottle however to refill.

2. Virgin drinks - yes; coffee drinks - no. There is free drip coffee available everywhere. I thought it was fine. There's also a coffee bar with espresso drinks. But the beverage package doesn't include any of those drinks. Not sure about the coffee makers - we had an inside room which doesn't get one.

3. Don't know about the mini bar

4. Yes, there's chocolate milk at breakfast. Never tried to get it at other meals

5. Yes, you can get continental breakfast type items and coffee for free from room service in the morning.

Can't help with the rest

Just wanted to say about the coffee, in our experience we always filled out the door card for breakfast in the morning and on the coffee line we write 6 or so even if there is 2 of us that way we get plenty of coffee. I enjoy after dinner coffee and it has always been included in my UDP but I learned from a waiter at Cagneys that if you order a Baileys coffee you will be charged extra as it is concidered a "specialty" coffee BUT if you order a coffee with Bailys on the side it is included and you just pour it in yourself. I have also purchased iced coffee and latte's at the little coffee place and they are very good. Starbucks type prices but worth it. There is also free coffee and some pretty good pastries in the casino every morning. Hope you enjoy your cruise!
