Dubrovnik, Split, beaches suitable for toddler?.

We are visiting Split and Dubrovnik in 2 weeks and wonder if there are any beaches nearby which would be suitable for a toddler?

 

Unfortunately we don't have long at Split and arrive 1.00 pm in Dubrovnik so beach needs to be near.

In Split, Bacvice beach is about a 10, mebbe 15, minute walk from where cruise ships normally berth. Up the rise behind the waterfront & down the other side.

Beach is OK but can be crowded, plenty of facilities, water is shallow and clean (the little headland and long pier mean its some distance from the harbour water).

If it's not to your liking or too busy, there's a smaller (probably quieter) beach beyond in the next cove - walk another 10 mins along the shore or through the wooded park.

Island of Lokrum in Dubrovnik has certain areas which are great for toddlers. Of course, you have to take the ferry over there.

If our current weather continues, you will have no need for any type of beach visit. Rain, wind and cooler weather is forecasted for the next few weeks. I believe the sea temperature may be a bit chilly for some adults, let alone children. Our weather here has been very strange this year, we are now experiencing our first rain since early May. No climate change, ha!

Oh no! That is so disappointing. First cruise for daughter husband and our grandson :(:loudcry:

Please do not be disappointed, there is enough to see and do here. You can visit Banje Beach, just outside of the city wall and test the water. The Adriatic has never been a warm body of water and the beach is not sandy, but small pebbles. Walking the wall, riding the cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoying the historical part of the old town is very memorable. Strange weather this year!
