Hi all

New to MSC and have the Classic Allegrissimo beverage package included in the price of the cruise. I am aware that it is unlimited drinks like bottled beers, glasses wine, spirit and mixers, coffee and soda.

But, I want to upgrade to the next level which includes the mini bar and champagne cocktails also.

Has anyone ever done this and how much extra will it cost?

Any help would be most welcome

Cheers (hic) :')

If you upgrade before you cruise, you save the 15% service charge that's added when you do it onboard. Page 171 of the current brochure:

https://www.msccruises.co.uk/en-gb/Brochures/Our-Brochures.aspx

The difference between the two packages is £39 (premium) minus £20 = £19 pppd.

See the following post for what the price upgrade costs onboard. You need to add 15% to this:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=53695493&postcount=28

As you can see, the extra cost is €18 pppd (it's shown as "Allegrissimo" - that's the former name of the now "All-Inclusive Restaurant & Bar Drink Package. "Allegrissimo Premium" is now known as "All-Inclusive Deluxe Drink Package"). PLUS 15% Service Charge!

These prices apply to 7 night cruises where the currency onboard is Euros and before the Sterling price increase indicated in the 2018/2019 brochure, so for cruises before April next year. (The Euro prices onboard remain the same for next year for <9 night cruises).

This last week on Preziosa there was only draught lager available on the All Inclusive, quite a few of the cocktails have also been removed at the bars on the upper deck as has the pastry shop.

Dave ........... items from the pastry shop have always only been included on the premium package. Bottled Heineken should have been available on the basic all-inclusive.

I have done this for our upcoming Preziosa cruise, I phoned MSC UK direct and they did it for me, it came out at £17pppd and thats a bit of a bargain I think as we also got the Allegrissimo basic package included in the overall cruise price. If you upgrade onboard apparently you will have to pay 15% gratuities extra on top of the £17.

Just a thought though, we booked direct through MSC, if you booked via a TA you may have to get them to ring for you.

Good Luck

Bea ... On the First Divina TA the pastry shop was included along with the Smoothies in the Buffet which are now only in the spa for a fee on the basic package, the Fresh orange juice and the special Coffee and some of the Chocolate drinks with Liqueur.

Do not recall seeing any bottles of Heineken around the bars but they could have been there.

I just checked a photo of the Pools bar menu and it does say bottled Heineken, the rest have the Red asterisks.

Still worth the money as it still includes the Gelato and Milk Shakes from the bar in the Phoenician Plaza where you can choose which Gelato you want in it, the Pistachio and Noccola was a great combo.

Calling Bea!

Just to clarify ...With the deluxe package the bottled beer and all the other things mentioned are included?

....smoothies, shakes, juice, pastries, cocktails etc etc

Yes! :D

The only items not included are the "Super Premium" items with 2 asterisks next to them on the bar menus. There's a much wider selection of better wines by the glass, too! My favourite red is Cicogna, followed closely by Regale and Chianti Leonardo.

Here's the exact wording for the Deluxe package for sailings when Euro is the currency onboard:

ALL-INCLUSIVE DELUXE DRINK PACKAGE ADULT Drink all you want, where you want, in total freedom and with a light heart! Unlimited spirits (Premium brands are included), liqueur, aperitifs, classic and Premium cocktails, wide selection of wines by the glass, draught and bottled beer, non-alcoholic cocktails, soft drinks, juices, premium mineral water, energy drinks, espresso and cappuccino, drinks from the theme bar menus, minibar, and drinks and food from room service menu. Furthermore, this package entitles you to a 30% discount on all champagnes and wines from our wine lists. The drinks included in package can be consumed in all bars, self-service buffet and restaurants, including the speciality restaurants. The following items are not included in the package: tobacco, souvenir glasses and food served in the specialty restaurants. TERMS & CONDITIONS: The package is for personal use only and valid for one order at a time. The ID card is non-transferrable. Abusing the terms of the all-inclusive package may cause the service to be withdrawn and the remaining days not to be refunded. The price of the package applies to each day of the cruise except for the day of disembarkation; the package cannot be purchased on daily basis. Once activated on board, the package cannot be interrupted and refunded. The package must be booked by all guests occupying the same cabin, or just travelling together and wishing to eat at the same table, including minors who must book the Child version of the package. The package is not obligatory for infants under 3 years old (i.e. who have not yet reached their 3rd birthday). The package is not available for charter cruises and for large groups (over 250 persons on the Lirica class vessels, over 350 persons on the Musica class vessels and over 500 persons on the Fantasia class vessels). The package is not available for cruises 1-3 night; the minimum number of night is FOUR (4).

It doesn't mention the pastries. That's possibly because on the new ships these aren't included. However, on Fantasia class, they are included. The bar in the Piazza area on deck 6 has a wonderful display case of very attractive, delicious treats on the right and, on the left, a great variety of gelato. They make lovely sundaes in this area which are included, too. The Spa bar serves fresh fruit drinks when open - worth checking out!

For an idea of what drinks are included, check out this bar menu from Meraviglia - all items, including those with one asterisk, will be available in the main bars of the ship. Bear in mind that some bars are smaller and don't stock the whole range and some are specialist bars which may have items not available anywhere else. Posts #70 - #73:

Dave .............. the list of included items has been reduced gradually over the last couple of years. clear.png?emoji-mad-1709 At least you've got the premium to look forward to on your next outing. :D

Any time I think of, or hear mention of, the freshly squeezed orange, always reminds me of Skipper Tim. He was very pleased with it being available on the basic all-inclusive back in the day.

When we were on Sinfonia last October going to Durban, there was a reserved area in the restaurant for Aurea guests for breakfast & lunch. Each morning, I would order the orange juice (we had the premium) and the waiter would go into the main section of the MDR to fetch me a glass. After a few days, I was told that they no longer had it as there was no demand (aka no-one paying the €3.50 per glass!) and it would only be available in the buffet. In fairness, the waiter went off to the buffet and got me some in a (plastic) glass. Needless to say, I wasn't too pleased - I really don't like those plastic glasses! We had befriended the head waiter who I had a word with about the situation. From then on, they had a glass pitcher in the service area full of juice fetched from the buffet at the beginning of breakfast service. There was another couple in Aurea who also had the premium package and wanted the juice, too.

Talking of milkshakes - one of the few things I've never sampled on a cruise. Something to add to the list of other things I've never got around to doing!
