Hyatt Pier 66 loses Hyatt affiliation 10/12/17

It was announced a long while ago that the Hyatt Pier 66 property had been sold. The property will take on a generic "Pier 66 Hotel" name for the time being.

I just received a phone call notifying me that my previously booked reward nights will not be honored after the changover date.

They are calling all guests with reward nights with the option to switch to paid reservation or find another reward property. You may want to get a head start on moving reward reservations booked for stays after 10/12 since reward nights are limited.

Paid reservations are not effected.

We stayed there last year with their Cruise and Snooze package and we loved it so we booked it again for Dec. 10, 2017, I just called the hotel and they said nothing will change except for the name of the hotel and we will still earn Hyatt points for this stay..

I'm sorry for Hyatt Reward Members about this news. But when I last stayed at "Hyatt" Pier 66, it was not meeting my expectations for a Hyatt property.

That's why I'm not too concerned with losing the reservation. It did look pretty tired and dated in the most recent reviews I've seen. I think we'll try to book The W instead.

I think that is a good decision. W Hotels are part of the Starwood Group which is now affiliated with Marriott International. Its been years since I stayed at a Starwood property, but did so in July at the Sheraton O'Hare Airport Hotel. Very pleased with room, service, and food/beverage offerings.

We just got an email from Hyatt. The hotel gave us incorrect information. We will not get Hyatt points for this stay. We cancelled it and booked the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale 17th Street Convention Center. It will cost us more and we will not have all of the perks from Pier Sixty-Six Snooze and Sail package but it is important to us to get the Hyatt points.

I also had this hotel booked in Dec, and I tried to call over the weekend to verify our status, and it was closed due to hurricane Irma. I got nervous and booked the Hilton, and right after I booked I got the notice from Hyatt that claims our Pier 66 reservation will be honored. Hilton is significantly more expensive, but we wanted a view of the port. Any recommendations on which one to keep vs cancel, or other good view hotels?

I would do the Hilton Marina rather than a generic brand hotel but I'm a little bit of a hotel snob [emoji51]

Not sure what your dates are, but for ours in February they're still in the mid $300 range for a room with a view which I find pretty reasonable.

Your reservation will be honored by the hotel but since it will no longer be a Hyatt property, you won't get Hyatt points for the stay. If that is not important to you, I would keep the reservation. We loved the Pier Sixty-Six last year and we had a great view of our ship from our tower room.
