stan vermeers Posted October 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2017 I would assume there are money exchanges at Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos. Does anyone know for sure? Considering we would exchange CUC's back to dollars/euros at last port. Thanks Linda
IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted October 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Hoping to find out as well, as we'll be in Cienfuegos. I believe Cienfuegos is usually a tender port, so I'm wondering if an exchange place will even be available there near where we end up!
pbenjamin Posted October 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2017 There was currency exchange at the pier in both Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba. In neither port did we use tenders. I think that Cienfuegos can only handle one ship at a time at the pier as the Pearl Mist was anchored off shore and using tenders.
IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted October 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2017 Hi, pbenjamin. Please ignore my question about CUCs in Cienfuegos on another thread. I just saw this. However, just out of curiosity, Pearl ships are quite a bit smaller than our ship but I'll ask anyway: Was the Pearl Mist anchored fairly close to the main part of Cienfuegos, or was it down near the point, on a little strip of land (La Punta in Cienfuegos) that runs south of the main part of Cienfuegos? Since we're scheduled to tender I'm guessing they'll have to take us up to the dock area for passport check, CUC exchange, get on buses for excursions, etc. But of course, nobody knows, perhaps not even the cruise line! pbenjamin Posted October 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2017 They were anchored fairly close to the main port. From what I heard, the Pearl Mist had been at the pier then day before but had moved to make room for us, hence my notion that they could only accommodate one ship at a time.
