cruisegirl25 Posted December 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2005 We will be Ocho Rios in January and we were looking at the Jungle River Tubing. How rough would you say the water is. We have a seven year old daughter. Do you think this would be too scary for her? She is a good swimmer and has been snorking. She would be on her own raft, correct. Also, how splashy is the water, she hates saltwater. TIA
WeatherGeek Posted December 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2005 If you'll be on the White River, it is a freshwater river. I was just there on Friday tubing down the White River and it was nice! The current was swift in two places, but the guide hung onto our rafts very tightly and guided us in the right direction. There were about 4 places where there are rapids. You'll definitely get soaked as the water here does splash all over you.
FrogCruiser Posted December 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2005 We've done the tour you are referring to and found that it was not very aggressive...a 7 year old with swimming experience etc should do just fine... There are a couple places where you might want to hold onto each others tubes, but you shouldn't have any problem...it was a lot of fun, and for us much better tour than climbing the dunns river falls...we had done that on a prior trip. Have a great trip !
pumpkin123 Posted December 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 14, 2005 When we went last Feb., each person had their own round inner tube and a paddle. The river moved very slowly in some spots so you needed to paddle, or use it to push off from the sides of the river if you drifted. The faster water was fun, but very short and not too scary. cruisegirl25 Posted December 15, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted December 15, 2005 Thanks everyone for the input. We went ahead and signed up. Do you think it matter which time we do. There was an 8:30 start and a 12:30 start time. Thanks again
