Manzanillo PV Mazatlan Cabo

Due to NCL STAR changing itinerary, I am tasked to re-think touring. Reading good reviews on the Manzanillo Colima City&Comala Village 7 hr tour; bad reviews on the PV Las Caletas Hideaway (was a good tour this past February, but does sound as if it has been left to ruin(?)) so am considering either the 5.3/4 hr Sailing Adventure -or- the Marieta Islands Eco Discovery; but there's also a Mexican Fiesta, Lunch&Town in PV. Mazatlan doesn't offer much but maybe the Colonial Villages of Malpica, Concordia&Copala????-or- the Stone Island Getaway. Cabo is always a picture taking stop - what about Discover the small townof Todos Santos? Cabo Wabo sounds artsy-fartsy, what d'yall think about the Rock&Roll Beach Break? Any and all comments/feedback appreciated;)

Bucky3 - thank you for responding (still hoping to get more ideas from CC readers???) - we won't be doing any tours that include bouncy-bounce due to back issues (from car accident) - Here's hoping by bouncing this thread back up, it will attract some attention out there in cyberspace-land???

We have been to Mazatlan twice, never taken any excursions. But if you are in the Golden zone and like Margarita`s try one at the Quadelajara Grill ( excuse the spelling ? ) We were going to take the Todos Santos Excursion but changed it due to the Star leaving Cabo at 2. Went on the Delux 2 Hr. Coastal Cruise. Turned out half way through we caught up to several whales, this was an added bonus as we followed them for about an hour.

thank you, tequillasunrise and lstrong - so, Stone Island is reacheable via the $1.00 water taxi? and no problem to entertain yourself once there? anything other than water sports on which to spend money at Stone Is? How frequently does the taxi run (as in, to get back to the ship)? The ship followed whales for 2 hours? WOW! that sounds really fun!

Stone Island has lots of Palapas - restaurant/bars right on the sand. Wonderful shrimp!! Delicious margaritas. You can easily walk to the water taxis - turn left when exiting the terminal; walk approx 2 blocks where you will see the sign "Isla de las Piedras" (SP??) with an arrow pointing left again. The boats run constantly back and forth for the locals - no trouble getting back - I've done it twice and love the beach. Laurie

What we've seen on these tours in Puerto Vallarta

Las Caletas has always been a popular tour and has received good reviews overall.

Marietas Islands Eco-Discovery (also known this time of year as Whales, Dolphins, and Snorkeling) is a large catamaran that takes you to the Marietas for some snorkeling. Open bar on the way back - more of a booze cruise than an ecotour. Haven't really received a lot of feedback on that one. Good choice for this time of year though - fun to see the whales.

No real feedback yet on the Sailing tour - it's pretty new. Just be aware that there is no shade and sailboats can make you seasick if the water isn't calm. Take some dramamine an hour before sailing.

There are two popular Mexican Fiestas in town - one is at the Hotel Krystal right by the cruise port - the other is La Iguana in town. La Iguana is quite a bit better - ask your ship which they offer. Probably the Krystal due to its convenient location, but you did say they're calling it Lunch and town, so who knows.
