mrszuhwiggins Posted December 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Just returned from a stop at St. Thomas. We chose to go to Megan's Bay. They have been working very hard to restore the beaches and they've done a great job. They've planted all new palm trees near the shoreline to provide some much needed shade and have a beach bar, chair/umbrella vendors and bathrooms all up and running. Sand was very soft, but we were told to be careful, because it's possible that there might still be some debris in the ocean. On the drive over, there was damage to roads, buildings, landscaping very evident, but the beach looked gorgeous - hard to ruin that view. :)

Marty845 Posted December 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2017 I have some questiins for you: How did you get to Megan's Bay? Did you go by taxi or ship excursion? Were there a lot of taxis available at the port? Thanks for your help! Just returned from a stop at St. Thomas. We chose to go to Megan's Bay. cardamon Posted December 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2017 bummer. thanks Have you thought about taking your own? My son purchased an inflatable one (and mini compressor) for our cruise laST SUMMERT. He took it everywhere and had a blast. He even uses it at home on the lake. great investment. After leaving the gated area and walking towards the shopping area - keep walking to the end of the shopping area and there were a number of open air vehicles that sat about 15 people each and they were going to different beaches. There was a man directing you to the correct vehicle depending on which beach you wanted to go to. So was not hard to find a taxi TO the beach, but just make sure you make arrangements for someone to come back to get you at the end of the day because we did not make arrangements and had to wait quite a bit of time for a taxi to come back. The dispatcher called for us, but we still waited a long time and there were people after us that were still waiting when we left.

cmmarch Posted December 26, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Hi- Would you remember the price for chair and umbrella rentals-by any chance? thanks We were there on Sunday, Christmas Eve day. Got there about 11:15am but chairs and umbrellas sold out so never got price. They also have loungers. Great day there. I found shade under tree so it was fine (I don't sit in sun). There is a picnic structure with picnic tables too (open with roof for shade). Place looks great - sand and water spectacular! $10pp taxi (open air) each way.
