lakegirl16 Posted December 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2017 I searched for a thread that addressed this and didn't find one. Have a one night stay prior to a cruise in Vancouver, are there any reasonable (250 or less) hotels close to Canada Place? Or do we need to into other areas. Thank You! princeton12321 Posted December 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2017 You can often find the Fairmont Waterfront at or below $250 (it's $218 tonight). It's across the street- can't beat the location for a cruise and it's a very nice hotel.
Rare martincath Posted December 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Prices do seem to have trended upward, with sub-$250 (even USD rather than CAD) in the hotels closest to Canada Place becoming rare indeed on cruise nights. Fortunately the entire downtown core has virtually no hotels much further than a mile away from the pier - you need to get right up to the park or English Bay to get remotely close to 2 miles away. So I would suggest a search on Expedia, Hotels.com or your preferred consolidated hotel search site for your date to find a refundable rate you can live with (all the big hotel chains have downtown spots if you collect points) and simply popping the address of the potential hotels into Google Maps. If you choose Directions and input 'Canada Place' as the destination it will readily display exactly how far away you are. There's no such thing as a BAD downtown hotel - you can even avoid the potentially-loud ones, in and around our entertainment district, by restricting yourself to 4* or better (all the hotels in the areas concerned are 3.5* or less). If all you want is a comfy, safe, and convenient bed for the night you can save an absolute fortune by booking the YWCA Hotel (regular en suite doubles run ~US$120 incl all taxes in high season, and it has consistently excellent reviews). xlxo Posted December 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2017 @lakegirl16: To clarify.... what date would you like a hotel stay?
lakegirl16 Posted December 28, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Thanks for the advice. This is for May of 2019, just booked a Vancouver to Seward cruise. We did a Whittier to Vancouver cruise this year and stayed at Blue Horizon post cruise for two nights. Great hotel, great location. This time, just looking for a place to stay night before we sail. xlxo Posted December 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2017 it's more than a year to May, 2019.... prices may not be posted yet. Go to Expedia to see what hotel rates are for May 2018 now to get an idea of what prices will be for your trip a year later. without an exact date of your sailing... be aware May 18-20 is a long weekend in the area. Expect hotels to be premium priced around those dates. just for the night? Blue Horizon, YWCA, and Richmond airport hotels would be an affordable option.
