Giantfan13 Posted December 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2017 We are cruising into Aruba in a couple of weeks and the ship has an overnight there. Ourselves, we have been to Aruba a couple of years ago and did a tour of the island. Overall, we are NOT beach people, that is to snorkel or just lay on the beach. We do not mind walking along the beach. So we were wondering what might be things to do for NON beach people. Some one mentioned the lighthouse, is that a viable option and how would one get there from the cruise terminal. What beach might be good if we just wanted to wander about? Thanks for any help Cheers Len
cb at sea Posted December 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2017 I'd get a guidebook on Aruba, and see what interests me! Aruba is really about the beaches, for most, but I'm sure there are other options! Casinos, restaurants, shopping...and I know there are "points of interest", if you're interested in that! The ship will be pretty much empty during the day, and that's a good time to make use of the facilities you've paid to use!
MKellyUtah Posted December 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2017 Understanding that you're not interested in laying on the beach ... or snorkeling ... maybe you still want to enjoy being on the water? We did the Black Pearl sunset trip in November. The boat is unique in that is offers padded loungers that you can stretch out on, and most of the seating is in the shade. (You can check their website to see what it looks like). They make two snorkeling stops, and my Wife did that --- but I never got in the water, just relaxed with a drink in my hand that they were happy to refill (along with feeding us.) Got some great sunset photos, too. The best of both worlds, something we'd do again.

Rare Hlitner Posted December 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Getting to the lighthouse (all the way out past Arashi Beach) would require a taxi or rental car...if you are doing that in the evening. The 10a bus (which goes to Arashi) does not run that time of the day. Another option would be to grab a taxi and head out to the Palm Beach area (also called the High Rise Area) where there are some shops, restaurants, and even a decent piano bar (Sopranos). Or, one could just enjoy town, perhaps go to one of the bar/restaurants and simply explore on foot. Hank

What might be the cost of a taxi to this area? Can we take the bus to Arashi beach and then walk to the Lighthouse? What time does the bus stop running back to the port? Again, thanks for the input you have given me. Cheers Len
