js10 Posted December 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2005 Our family of 8 (parents, adult children and spouses) will be on the Star Princess in January. Our previous cruise experience includes two Celebrity cruises where we had traditional dining which we enjoyed. Due to the late booking of our Princess cruise we only had Personal Choice dining available to us. Many posts on this board have reassured us that Personal Choice can work much like traditional if you reserve the same table each night. Are there any recent Star Princess passengers out there who could recommend a waiter in the anytime dining rooms that you found especially efficient, professional, funny, etc.? We have found in the past that our waiters have greatly affected our dining experience and we would like to have a name in mind when we go to make our Princess dinner reservations. Thanks for your help.
coiran Posted December 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2005 If Thamarrat, from Thailand, is still on board, ask for him - he is very good. In November he was on deck 5 for dinner. Ron
cjh Posted December 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2005 Be sure to go to the PC dining room on deck 5 it's less crowed and the staff is just better. Been on the Star twice it's a beautiful ship.
Logie Posted December 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2005 Please go and find the Head Waiter named Francesco from Italy. His finance works in Sabatini. I have been on 4 cruises with him already and he will take care of you. Have a great time, the Star is awesome!!!
luv2travel2beaches Posted December 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2005 In looking at the deck plans they list the decks by names not numbers. Can you tell me which deck is deck 5 or what the name of the dining room is on deck 5. We are looking foward to our cruise on the Star in January. John & Suzanne: Which week are you sailing? We will be on the January 15th sailing. We hope to soon be able to take a cruise with our adult children and their spouses also. Our Oldest DD is hoping to get married on a cruise with the whole family there. Hope you have a great cruise.
Flyer Posted December 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2005 Deck 5 is the Plaza Deck and the Dining Room is the Capri. The one above on Deck 6 (Fiesta) is the Portofino. The Capri normally opens at 5:30 pm and the Portofino opens at 6:00 pm
js10 Posted December 17, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted December 17, 2005 Luv2travel2beaches, We are on the 1/29 cruise. We are very excited about having time on board with our entire family. Our "kids" are out of the area due to jobs and that makes it nice as well. It is also fun to have the opportunity to introduce them to cruising. We choose Princess hoping for a slightly younger demographic than Celebrity. Hoping for a more exciting atmosphere for them but we will see. Have a great cruise and let us know how the Star was when you return. John
sunprincess Posted December 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2005 The Star is a lovely ship. DO hope you enjoy your cruise. Maitre D Mario Propato does an excellent job with his staff. Many of my friends who work on the Star are away on vacation. Someone mentioned Francesco, he is going home very soon. Mihai is one of the Head Waiters. Not sure where he will be assigned for your cruise. Stefano is an awesome waiter, but, I think he does traditional seating. Enjoy :)
