Step by step from Crown Bay to St. John

My hubby and I have been to St. Thomas multiple times, but have never been to St. John. We will be docking at Crown Bay (RC Harmony of the Seas) next Tuesday - 1/16. Kiddos are staying with our parents all day so we can have the day at the beach alone. We want to go to St. John and be on a nice beach with bar service. Can someone please "dumb it down" and give me step by step instructions on where to go on St. John and how to get there (including how much cash to take) from Crown Bay port?

STJ beaches are within a national park and do not offer bar service. Prior to Irmaria, a limited drink selection was available at the concession stand at Trunk Bay, but that service has not been restored.
