Three Day Serenade - Escape From The Deep Freeze

Recommended Posts

We continue to see snow through South Carolina.

A lot of people were out playing in what was left of it, and getting their pictures taken in it. They must have had a real problem on the interstate, because we passed one stretch where we counted the remnants of six snowmen built in the median. You know traffic was stopped for a while to build them.

Our stop for the night would be in Elkin, North Carolina. The sky is still clear in North Carolina.

Picking Elkin as our stop was just by luck. It was about halfway, and it had a Fairfield Inn where we could use our Marriott free night. This was one of the nicest Fairfield’s we have stayed in, and they still had their elaborate Christmas display up.

And, they had chocolate chip cookies.

We had been searching online, as we drove, for a place to eat. We found a place called “Pirate’s Landing”, which claims to be the most exciting seafood restaurant in the southeast. I wish Royal would make seafood as good as this. If anyone is traveling through this area, I highly recommend it.

It is 4 degrees in Elkin when we leave for the final day of the road trip back from the cruise. The day is sunny, once again, and the roads are clear.

We breeze through Virginia, West Virginia, and then see a familiar sign.

We are back in Pennsylvania, where we will evidently “Pursue our Happiness”. The weather will be above freezing here for the first time since we left.

Well, that was a rather anticlimactic end, but it is, in fact the end. Now this review will slowly filter to the bottom of the Royal Caribbean forum, only to be replaced with those important threads like “Can I make my 7:15 flight?”

Thanks to everyone who read along and commented.
